The Wifi credentials are listed on the fridge. Scan the QR code with the camera of your Apple or Android devices, and you will get automatically connected to the WIFI or can open the digital guestbook.

The wifi box is located in the living room in the cupboard under the TV on the right side. It is powerful to provide 100% coverage throughout the full house.

Please do not move or unplug anything in this section not to interfere with operations.

There is a mesh extender in the utility room under the staircase.

During load shedding, it can be that the Internet gets off after one hour, as the main repeater from the fiber is out of power. This is nothing we can influence or improve as it is maintained by the City of Cape Town.

There has never been any incident or burglary into the villa. The alarm system is there to keep it like this.

Please close every door and window before switching the alarm on. Have the garage door closed.

Please switch it on when you get out of the house (brown button on the remote).

Please switch it on during the night for your convenience.

In the case of mistakenly triggered alarm, still, ADT security (armed guards) will come by to the house and check if everything is ok.

Please use the Intercom to tell them you are guests and the alarm got triggered erroneously. You can tip them for their service.

On the remote attached to the keys:

• 1. BLUE: open/close the garage
• 2. GREEN: ALARM is turned ON/OFF internally + externally
• 3. BROWN: ALARM is turned ON/OFF, for the internal rooms. If external intruders get recognized or you open any door and step outside, the BEAMs will recognize any invasion and ALARM will go on.
• 4. RED: PANIC button to trigger external help immediately.

There are also internal “Emergency” panic buttons installed, which trigger ALARM immediately, even if the system is off. There has never been an intrusion into the property or to one of the near houses in the area of our premise.

Garbage collection: Monday at 7:00 AM. Place the bin out the night before or early morning.

If you do not place the bin outside, simply, the bin stays full. Please only refuse garbage in black plastic bags to avoid that this becomes attractive to rodents and insects.

As soon as you place the garbage bin outside, it is likely it getting searched by a poor stranger looking for food. They most of the time leave bags open and garbage beside the bin. Thank you for removing those waste afterward for a nice environment.

Every Friday a pool cleaning company stops by to clean the pool and calibrate the water quality.

If you are not on site, they skip to the following week.

To clean the pool yourself, ensure that the robot pipe is plugged into the red outlet on the outside of the pool. Also, take out the leaves basket once a day. Use the leaf net to collect leaves, greens, and bugs out of the pool.

Use the brush to remove sand from the pool stairs and green from the water level at the sides.

The pool pump is on from 8-10 AM, 11-1 PM, and 3-5 PM

South Africa is affected by electricity shortage. Therefore, the electricity is getting turned off for a couple of hours depending on the amount of short in energy. It could be two hours up to 8 hours per day without electricity.

Therefore, we have a solar system installed to provide you no impact during your stay.

Be aware: The stove and geyser do not work during load shedding.

Please switch off air conditioners during load shedding as they drain the battery significantly fast.

The fridge is good enough at 8 degrees, and the freezer at -18 degrees. Please do not adjust the temperatures for environmental reasons.

We recommend not using the water dispenser as bottled water shall be preferred. You can drink water from the tap; it is clean for human use.

Please use the stove switch on the right-hand side on the wall to release power. Press the lock symbol to switch off children protection. Use any of the four plates.

The stove is not available during load shedding. Please use the BBQ/Braai instead.

The dishwasher is straightforward. Put a dishwasher tab into the bottom of the washer, switch it on and set it to half-full and press "play". This is good enough, and everything will come out sparkling clean. It is a strong one.

Usage Instructions

• Load it.
• Turn the wheel to the desired washing program (short is good enough).
• Turn it on by pressing the button.
• If the water is not starting to flush, press the window with a strong push on the right handle to get it started.

Find and store the parasols in the very left cupboard of the kitchen. We have solid stands that are movable around the terrace. Please keep the parasols closed, as gusts can blow them over or into the pool easily. Please return them to the cabinet every evening. Never keep them out at night.

If there is a problem or malfunction with the parasols or their stands, please immediately contact us for a replacement or maintenance.

Use on very hot days to cool down and shadow the internal rooms. This helps as much as air conditions.

Ensure that you put them back before you leave the house, as strong winds could pick up and destroy them.

BBQ is called “Braai” here in South Africa. South Africans are enthusiastic about braaiing, and in some parts, they do it daily. It is similar to Southern US traditions, and they spend hours with it. Meat in South Africa is of high quality, as you get free-range grass-fed wet or dry-aged. Feel free to enjoy an afternoon or evening braaiing with our top-quality gas grill Megamaster Apex Series 4, which is a South African brand. If the gas bottle is empty, please replenish it with the spare gas bottle stored in the pool room. Contact us to replace the gas bottle or for maintenance.

Usage instructions

As it is a gas grill and has a side heater, it can be used to heat things during load shedding. Please follow this procedure:

• 1. Take the black bucket at the bottom and fill it with a liter of water.
• 2. Open the gas tank. You will hear the gas hiss.
• 3. Press the fire button on the right while pressing the desired heaters down and shift them to the left for the desired heat level.
• 4. Close the lid and let it get warm above 200 degrees Celsius.
• 5. Wait to get the grid hot (5 minutes).
• 6. Put beef/pork/lamb on the main grid and chicken/vegetable/fish on the stainless-steel racks to the right.
• 7. Put bread or passive grilling items on the upper grid. Remove the upper grid if you do not need it, so you can reach your items better.
• 8. Make sure no plastic or cotton gets in contact with the grill.
• 9. Once ready… CLOSE THE GAS tank.
• 10. Take the grill brush, put it into the water of the black bucket, and scrub off all the meat stuck to the grid and racks.

Cleaning instructions

• 1. CLOSE the GAS bottle.
• 2. Fill the black bucket with water. Wet the grill brush and scrub off all the meat stuck to the grid and racks. A sponge or solid brush will help in addition.
• 3. Remove the grids and racks and clean them with the small grill brush in the kitchen sink. Also, take out the black gas covers and clean them.
• 4. Wipe off all the fat and remains from the bottom.
• 5. Take out the collection container at the bottom. Empty the water and take a kitchen roll paper to remove the collected fat. Put it into the garbage. Please do not try to get fat in the sink.
• 6. Reassemble the Gas braai.
• 7. Make sure no plastic or cotton is in.
• 8. Once ready… ensure the GAS BOTTLE is CLOSED.

If someone rings the bell, you can control video and voice through the Intercom.

There is an Intercom station at the internal door on the ground floor and a second unit in the upper living room.

If a person isn't clear on the camera, ask them to move closer for better visibility.
